Kathleen Hays: Odds of Japan FX Intervention While U.S, EU Markets Closed 'Relatively High': Chandler

Officials May Be Wary of "Drawing a Line in the Sand. Welcome to Central Bank Central. I'm Kathleen Hays. The yen is one of the big stories of the day of the week and certainly the days ahead. It hit its weakest level against the dollar since 1990 overnight. Now, it has been weakening since the last BOG meeting, the decision, the big decision to exit negative rates earlier this month. But it picked up steam this yen weakening after Fed Governor Chris Waller gave a very carefully worded very clear speech saying that, you know, inflation that we're not sure is going to keep coming down right now. And in fact, we're in or he is in less hurry than ever to start cutting rates. This was a big story around the world. In particular, though, we want to look at the yen because the weakening has been so dramatic. And the question is, what do they do now? And the perfect person joining me again today is Mark Chandler. He's managing director at Vandenberg Global Forex.
